Application Processing Times at the Immigration Office
The Immigration Office has set goals for processing times for most case types.
Expected Maximum Processing Times for Most Case Types
The Immigration Office has established maximum processing times for most case types.
The maximum processing time is the longest time you can typically expect before receiving a decision on your case under normal circumstances.
The processing time is calculated from the date the application is submitted.
The maximum processing times are expected to be met in 90 percent of completed cases within a given case type. In some cases, the processing time will be shorter than the maximum processing time, and in special cases, it may take longer before you receive a decision.
The processing time may be longer than the expected maximum processing time if the Immigration Office needs further information to make a decision on the case.
If the Immigration Office has any doubts about whether your salary and terms of employment meet Faroese standards, we may ask experts in the field to assess your terms of employment. When this is necessary, it may take us longer to process your case.
Processing times can also be affected by the Immigration Office receiving an extraordinarily high number of applications, e.g., due to seasonal variations.
In the event that the Immigration Office cannot comply with the maximum processing time, the Immigration Office will contact the applicant.
